Default My First Camaro?

I currently own a 1995 Mustang GT with mild bolt ons and 94k miles. They include exhaust, pullies, and 3.73s. The car is strong dynoing 217 HP and 292 Torque.

Now, I have the chance to trade a guy nearby for a M6 1994 Z28.

Here's a list of specifics:

120K miles
6 spd, SPEC stage 2 clutch and aluminum flywheel
LS1 brake upgrade
LT4 HOT cam kit (cam, springs retainer, rockers, etc...)
Ported and Polished heads
Elec. waterpump(CSI)
BBK throttle body (52mm)
Tuned ECU
Vortech elbow
Hooker Jet-Hot longtubes
Custom 3" Y-pipe (leads to stock cat-back, NO CAT)

He says that it has never been on the dyno or to the track but he claims that he runs neck and neck with his buddy who has a 94 Z28 with Lloyd Elliot heads and a custom cam.

What kind of numbers would this car be putting down? What kind of track times?

What would you guys pay for a car like this. Keep in mind, the exterior is in good condition and the tires are all new.

Is this car worth the trade with all things considered?

Thanks from a possible future Camaro guy,
Vincent.

Heck yah I'd trade. Im almost 100% sure that car will run quicker than the stand. In fact it would probably put down better numbers stock. Definetly trade.

I fully expected that it would blow my car out of the water performance wise. However, not being a Camaro guy, how will the reliability be? Gas mileage? Repair costs? Modification costs? Just overall maintainance costs.

the only thing that costs a **** load on these cars is the opti spark. they are very reliable and probably get around the same gas mileage(maybe a little worse) Modding theses cars is REALLY cheap compared to ls1s.

the only gripes i have is the opti spark(when it goes) and doing plugs and wires with stock manifolds, but its not that bad doing them after some headers.

these cars will easily go 150-200k miles with very few problems.

I dont know about the mileage. The stangs got 3.73s but it appears the Z28 has the stock 3.23. That would mean at 68 miles an hour the Z28s only spinning 1500 rpms. I would probably have to go with the Z28 getting better gas mileage.

He said the rear was a 3.42.

Basically, what is the fair market value for a car like this? I could sell my car for 5500 rather easily, and I'm looking to get 6000 out of it. Is this car worth about what mine is?

Why would he want to trade?

Is it an even trade? or are you paying him extra?

Ok, these are the questions I've been looking for. I'm not paying him extra. He says that he has always wanted a Mustang.

I'm going to look at it on Sunday to see if there are any glaring problems with the car. I just don't know if my pony heritage will let me get into a.......Chevy

Keep the suggestions and opinions coming.

Thanks,
Vincent.

Just get it, you'll love the way it drives I had a 97 Mustang GT that was slow as hell. My car now has about 140 more HP than that thing did stock.

It sounds like a good trade. Hes got a good amount of things done to the car and it's without a doubt faster than your Mustank. If you love horsepower, get it. And you better choose what side your on, cause its Mustangs vs Camaros/Firebirds

Horsepower wise that car will put down(If it has the mods listed) alot more then yours. Stock it should put down more then yours.

Value wise? I don't know how much mustangs go for, but I do know my 94 isn't worth 6000. I might MIGHT be able to get that from the right buyer, but If I was to just try and sell it I couldn't get that.

Private party Blue Book on my car is $4240. Blue Book on his is $3465.

I know there are stereotypes about Chevys being unreliable and always breaking(maybe just a Ford guy stereotype), but from personal experience, have any of you had big maintainance issues with your Camaros?

I had a lot of problems.. but they were all related. Just dont ignore any minor things (kinda obvious..but sometimes little things go overlooked) and you will be just fine.

FWIW... a bone stock LT1 will put down 255 +/- (seen some higher, a few lower)

Your definately going to notice a difference..in fact a buddy of mine on a hotcam and longtubes (automatic) is running 13 flat at 108mph.. with a full tank of gas, Corvette Z06 rims (17inch street rubber) and its setup for road racing. I would say about 335~340rwhp as an estimate. If that helps.

It does sound kind of fishy though..too good of a deal .wonder whats wrong..

I would get it it I were you. My stock trans am can beat your car. But your the only one who has seen the car. So unless you know things are falling apart, or stuff not working, it sounds like a steal on your part.
