I cant figure out what's causing this

Ok guys the car is a '97 6 spd. LT1 T/A. when i first start the car it runs fine for a couple of minutes then slowly starts misfiring badly, then A.I.R. pump turns on briefly(like 2 seconds) the idle will immediatly smooth out then slowly start doing the exact same thing over again. It probably does this every 2 mins. I replaced my EGR valve because of a EGR code. Still does the exact same thing, does not matter if its hot or cold. The car runs excellent other than at idle. Anyone ever experience a similar problem? I just did plugs, wires, and put in a brand new GMPP Optispark about 6k miles ago. Please help. Thanks.

How was the port for the EGR when you replaced it? Did you look to see if it was clogged up with carbon? Are you still getting an EGR code?

Pull the coil and control module off of the driver's side head and put some washers behind it, try to space it out at least 1/4". The heat from the head has been known to do some damage to the module.

ohhhh..it doesnt have to touch the head?

slow96z Mar 8, 2006 11:10 AM

Possible o2 sensor? Not sure if that effects these as much as it did my driver.
