Upgrading timing chain's *Need Help* Hey guys, I went ahead and bout a comp cams double roll timing chain for my 350ci (hydrolic roller) the problum is, how in the world do i take off the stock/bottom timing gear were the crank is at. any help please. the crank has 2 little locks type of thingies do i need to take those off? ?????????????? |
A three prong puller will do it. |
Remember the double roller will only fit the later 95-97 LT1 timing cover. |

Well I've never done it but I was just passing along information I had learned before. I'm *pretty sure* that's true, but you better talk to someone who has done the double roller on a 93 or 94. As far as I know, the double roller chain will only work on the later model cover and that means--you guessed it--also a vented opti. When I bought some stuff for my car, I was still really new to this and I bought a Cloyes double roller that was in a kit with a later model timing cover but I had the older opti so I just sent it back. That's why I think that is accurate, the pieces in the kit. |
I think it has more to do with the fact that the cam gear drives the opti on the 93-94 and the cam dowl pin drives the opti on the 95-97. |
That sounds like a good theory, but like I said, I don't have the setup. Either way, same end result. |
