Pacesetter LT's

You guys runnig the pacesetters, if you are running the pacesetter Y-pipe, what exhaust are you using? I was planing stock from the y back with a cutout.

also, anyone have problems with the y-pipe banging on the floorpan? I guess im gonna have to hammer it out a bit.

I have pacesetters lt's on my car and the drivers side collector bangs on the underside but they do sound good!

I have pacesetter LTs and ORY. The driver side of the y bangs on the floor. We tried to bend it down as much as possible at the exhaust shop, so its not too bad now. I was thinkin about wrappin it in exhaust tape, like thick so it doesnt rattle around :)

I had the exhaust shop run 3 inch pipe over the axle and out the back off the ypipe. I took them a hooker muffler and they hooked it all up. Its really quiet and i am a little dissapointed. Im thinkin about a cut out right before the exhaust goes over the axle.

I have a brand new set of the bigger non-emmisions PaceSetters and ORY if anyone is interested, PM me.

I'm using their y-pipe but I cut it to add dual 3" cats. That gave me a little extra flex to align things before having the driver's side cat welded up. I'm using the stock SLP 2OTL cat-back that came on my SS. I think my car is actually quieter now than it was with the stock manifolds and dual cat y-pipe. No pipes hitting anywhere at this point.

Im using the pacesetter y, and it came with a real nice professional looking dent. So mine doesnt bang.

I know what you mean i have the same setup and i dont like how quiet it is with the hooker muffler, but i have a cutout after the y pipe so i just open that and its hella loud.

Did you ever run only ypipe before you got your muffler and stuff hooked up? When i did it caused a lot of in car vibrations, just really bad from the loundness of it. I was wondering if your cutout causes any in car noises and vibes? Thats why i wanna go before it goes over the axle...

im running cut outs at the collectors

93BlackZ28 Apr 2, 2006 02:10 PM

Never ran it w/ open y pipe but im sure it sounds just like the open cutout right before it goes over the axle. As far as vibrations and such, my heat shield from where the cat used to be rattles like a mofo, but i only notice the floor rubbing when i have the cutout capped.

I have pacesetter headers and y-pipe... no banging at all y pipe fits well and the ground clearance is not a issue. It's mated to a hooker cat back as well.

slowmofo Apr 2, 2006 06:08 PM

hmmm ok guys thanks, I am having some clearence issues. I had to shim the tranny crossmember to get the y pipe off the driverside, and also it was melting the fuel return line connector. I also have noticed the passanger side is rubbing on the tranny bellhousing.

Your motor mounts might be shot if you still have the originals. I put in new poly mounts and the original GM rubber mounts were all elongated and stretched which would let the engine twist out of position. Have you tried loosening the driver's side header bolts and pulling down on the header to help gain a little extra clearance?

no but I will give that a shot, also I will check the motor mounts, they are original pieces with 123K on them.

thanks for the help
