Trickflow Head Q's????

With a head with a 62cc combustion chamber, what will be the final compression ratio on a stock bottom end lt1?

The b-bodies had a roughly 64cc chamber and a .029 gasket for 10:1 with the same shortblock as the f-bodies so it would be a shade over that if you use a .029 or .026 gasket.

In your sig it says "supercharger for sale", if you read the Trickflow description it says those are for boost or strokers, even they are telling not to use them on an NA stock shortblock.

Yes, I know that, I just want to get a ballpark estimate of my compression will be when I have my lt4 heads ported with 62cc combustion chambers, with a .093" think head gasket on stock bottom end. For another FI application :)

Bore = 4.000"
Stroke = 3.48
Deck Height = .015"
Gasket = .093"
CC = 62

Compression Ratio is 9.5:1

A stock shortblock is very likely to be .020+ on the deck height. That equasion also neglects piston dome or dish gasket ore diameter, and I hope like hell the .093 gasket red97Z posted was a slip of the fingers and he meant .039 like the Felpro gasket for the LT1.

Given the roughly 64cc iron head motors 10:1 with a .029 gasket I think with a .039 gasket you will be pretty damn close to that number.

Well I'm just going off what he gave me and the information I have.

Also, last time I checked, deck height was .015" for a stock bottom end LT1 w/ aluminum heads.

Also, I thought (could be wrong) the 4.5cc of piston was calculated into the CC volume that totaled 58cc. If not then just take out 4.5 from that and re do math. CR will go up.

Yeah I gave him credit for the .093. The heads are like 54cc little more little less.

When I had the heads off my motor we got a little shadetree and used a small straightedge and feeler gauges and came up with about .022, I have seen guys talk about over .030 on this site as well.

You talking about the deck height?

96capricemgr Jun 13, 2006 08:44 PM

Yes the deck height was .022 on my motor. The b-body and f-body shortblocks are the same.

Most every LT1 core that I have gotten has had a .020+ deck height.
