running cold

the other day i replaced my plug and broke the coolant sensor on the drier side head easy to replace but now my car is running rich and cold causing the car to skip under load temp barely comes off 160 any ideas what the problem is i think the new sensor is it but i want some other opinions your help will be greatly appricated :bang: :bang:

how do you know its only coming up to 160??? are you going off a datalog or just reading the temp gauge. the 1/4 line on the gauge is actually like 190 deg.. alot of people get confused by that.. but as for the skipping did you only replace one plug???

The only purpose of the sensor on the head is for the temp gauge in the dash and nothing else. It doesnt change the way the car runs. Get the temp using from the computer using freescan, datamaster, or something along those lines.

harvickgm, its barely getting off the 160 mark and it was hot today i`m wondering if it is giving the computer a faults read and keeping the auto choke on allowing it to run rich

Did you read what I posted? Theres a 10-15 degree diff between the two sensors.

harvickgm 06-17-2006 01:56 PM

but did you only replace that one plug... and also how are you getting that temp? are you just reading your temp gauge or are you datalogging it??

i think we`ve found the problem i put it on a computor of a friend (he has the keys to the local gm dealership) found 4 codes 1, p0122 pedal position sensor (my car doesn`t carry this sensor it`s in 98 and up) 2,p0135 02 sensor heater circuit malffunction,3, p0336 crankshaft position sensor,4,p0400 egr valve. i fix the egr valve broken vaccum line i`m waiting on the other parts i hope this fixes it :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

thats why i was saying that you need to datalog the car to know whats going on.. did you test the O2's or are you just going to replace them??

redhot lt-1 06-17-2006 07:33 PM

the o2s are ok the code says its an wire issue i just had a set of pacesetter headers put in and they rewired the o2`s and the wire may have burnt or come lose but i`ll know more monday  :bang:

harvickgm 06-17-2006 07:35 PM

i had to do the heated 02 conversion to mine... the wiring is not that hard...

redhot lt-1 06-17-2006 08:50 PM

:secret: how is that done i may need to do mine

harvickgm 06-17-2006 08:52 PM

what year is your car???

redhot lt-1 06-17-2006 09:08 PM

96 t-a

harvickgm 06-17-2006 09:18 PM

oh, yours already has heated O2's on it. so no need for that.. just check and make sure that there is not corrosion in the connectors. and that all connections are good..

redhot lt-1 06-17-2006 09:32 PM

thanks man i`ll have the machance that installed my headers check it
