Default Dads LT1 VERY sluggish...

Title says it all:

94 z28

Car had some rattling noise that has since gone away since the car became extremely "sluggish"

The car basicly feels like it has absolutly no torque at all. No matter how much gas you give it the car can only GRADUALLY increase in speed. It holds speed fine but getting there is the problem. There arent any type of SES lights or anything.

Im not familiar with the Fbody... I dont know if it would even throw any type of SES...

Is it an A4 or M6 tranny. My 9c1 had the same problem a couple years back it turned out my gears 1st-2nd shift soleniod were shot. It was an $80 fix.

If it's an A4, sounds like the Plug on top is not connected, and it is manually shifting. It's starts in 3rd gear when it does that.

Its an A4.

I dont think it starts out in 3rd gear... because even at higher speeds giving it gas does NOT raise the RPMs. You still have to gradually ease into a higher speed. What I meant before is that it would just maintain a speed fine...

... except...

... when going up a hill there is an obvious loss of power. On a flat surface you can maintain speed.

It seems to me like it could be something with the torque converter?

Do you mean that it does not down shift if you are in say.... 60mph and slam the pedal to the floor?

My dads cat collapsed on his dodge ram, instant loss of all power! It was rattling before it fully collapsed, he thought is clutch was going out, but the cat collapsed.

don't forget to check the EGR valve. a friend of mines are was bogging, loss of power when it was warmed up. I also had this exact issue with my 89 caddy. turned out a spark plug cracked, so any time there was a heavyish load on it, it would constant missfire and have no power. the motor was the gutless olds 307 to start, but trying to climb a hill with it was awful. Replaced a bunch of stuff, then I went to check the plugs, and the first one I pulled had a hair line crack in the porsaline. replaced just the plug, ran great!
