TD's or HotCam kit? Well, winter is here, and its time to stop spending money for a while and save for a cool late winter project that will make next spring fun. I was thinking about taking my car to a local custom exhaust shop and having him make me some under the axle TD's with a x pipe and bullets, and attaching them to my BBK headers, and running them out through some corsa knock off tips, All in all it would be around 500 bucks, figuring 100 for tips, 150 for bullets, 50 for a x pipe, and 200 for fab and install. I was sitting in auto mechanics today looking through summit, and seen how cheap the lt4 hot cam kit with 1.6RR's, springs, cam, basically all the goodies was, and it had me wondering if that would be a cool thing to do, as I really love the hot cams lope, streetability, sprayability, and now, price. But my car has 145k miles on it, and I'm worried about her. Shes got some small oil leaks here and there, but overall is in pretty good shape, and runs damn hard for her age, and I don't want to fuck it up with a cam swap... |
do both. :) |
all this hotcam talk has gotten me wanting a hot cam |

ALSO, remember I have BBK headers, ORY, and a open Borla cat back right now, so Im not going to gain much power at all with 2 1/2 inch true duals really, its more of a sound thing. |
Go with the true duals now, wait and save up more money for the cam in case anything else happens when you put the cam in. Yes true you won't gain that much power now but once you get a cam and some other mods done then true duals will show. Also the sound is unbeatable. :) |
In a pinch I can always borrow money from my step dad, the car will never be DITW, the price is negate, they both are going to be around the same.. |
I used to think my catback sounded good, till i swapped it for true duals. Now it's just wicked. I'd get the exhaust. |
I'd do exhaust first to make the cam experience all that much better |
I wouldn't think about doing before the axle TD on a daily driver. Them exhaust fumes in the passenger compartment couldn't be good. Borla is good enough for hotcam with stock cubes. I went with a 4" mufflex so I would be able to use a Spohn torque arm. |
