Is this normal? I just noticed my car acting a little funny. When I turn my steering wheel either direction the idle drops about 100-200RPM's. It does this while I'm driving and in neutral, I have a 6 speed. I never really looked at it before the cam so I dont' know if it did this previously or not. The cam is a cc503 installed in December, I had already had all the same bolt-ons before that. The sensors in the TB are both new too. Is this normal for you guys too? |
mine has been doing the same thing ever since my header install which was probably half a year ago. i have no idea what it could be? |
though its suppose to go upp or maybe its down anyways your taking power so its gonna slow it down there ya go |
my car dose the same thing, it also will do it when you turn the A/c on :thumb: :thumb: |
the power steering pump is probably putting more load on the motor. the larger cam would make less power at idle so thats probably why you notice it more now. |
Everything you guys said makes sense. I kinda thought that but I couldn't put it into words and wanted to make sure it was normal. What about your idle going to where its set at? On a cold start the car takes forever to go down to the set 700rpm idle. When I start it in the morning to go to work it idles at 1200 and quickly goes down to 900-1000 and stays there for about 5 minutes. I even let it sit there after I start it while I buckle up and change CD's and everything, so it "warms up" for about 2 minutes. But even after that like I said it takes another 5 minutes of driving to go down to the 700rpm. Is that normal? |
ya its just warming up |
Cool! |
Your fine. The power steering is putting load on the engine and drops the rpms a little. And your idle is fine too. The stock idle is like 500-600rpm, and is about 900 at cold start. So if your idle is set at 700, it should go to ~1200 and slowly decrease. |
