Default Need help/advice

I just bought a 96 Formula (auto) with 75K miles on it. I'm having a problem with it basically accelerating on its own. While I'm driving, I can take my foot off the gas and it will continue to stay at that speed and eventually start going faster. Also, when I'm stopped and in gear, the car still wants to move forward. I really have to apply the brake to keep it from doing so.

I also have a rough idle, at times it will be at 600 rpm and all the way up to 1500 rpm. What do you think this could be?

I do have a problem when I floor the car, it will hesitate and want to almost die before the power kicks in and it accelorates.

I've searched but couldn't find anything with the accelerating on its own.

--the poor idle and hesitation when flooring it...do you think that can be plugs and wires, or the opti?

Thanks

i may be stating the obvious here...but when your stopped and you let off the brake the car moves forward?...im pretty sure thats normal. how fast is it moving forward? maybe your idle is just set really high so your still accelerating even if your foot is off the accelerator. EX: if your going 10 miles an hour and your rpms should be at 900 with the foot off...and your idle is at 1500...your still going to accelerate.

idk maybe im missing something here?

The idle doesn't really ever set at one place. It goes from 500-1500. I know that when I take my foot off the brake it will go forward, but it jumps forward when I do so. Also, I really have to apply the brake hard to keep it from inching forward. It shouldn't be pulling that hard to go when the brake is on.

I would remove ur tb and iac clean it all really good, make sure the iac is working correctly. Then check ur throtal cable and spring. Lube it all up well and make sure the spring is pulling the cable back to closed when u let off the gas. Check this buy (with the car not running ) push pedal to floor hold for a second, then slowly realse the peddal. Then go look to see if the spring pulled the blades shut. My guess is u will see it dont hit the stopper

Goodluck

I just finished cleaing everything and found this as well...
-I know this isn't what is causing my problem, but I have a small oil leak...do you think this is the cause of it?
Where can I buy a new tube, the one in my car has a large rip/tear in it.
