Default help with argument please

So theres a on going argument on another forum about a lt1 and a reg. dist. the guy clamis his car is a lt1 car with a carb intake on it. Now he also has a reg. dist. in the back too. Soooo, can you run that dist. on a oem '95 lt1 block? What all is involved? Do you need to run a sbc cam with a dist. gear on it? Or is this guy blowin smoke and its not a lt1 and its a reg. sbc in the car?

You can run a reg dist on a LT1. Only would be an issue is if you wished to keep fuel injection, as you'd have to grapht(sp) the optical sensor on the dist to use to the stock PCM.

You can pretty much interchange any Roller SBC Cam with Dowell on it in/out of any LT1. Carb Intakes with Distributers are all over with them, lots of older cars are running that.

GM has an LT1 carb intake manifold (and LT4). fits right on the LT1 in place of the EFI LT1 intake.

Here are a few photos of that intake manifold. The hole in the back is for the regular SBC distributor. Take out the LT1 oil pump drive gear and stick the regular distributor on and time it and fuel your carb and start her up.

LOL.
As well as honduhs and other chipmunk powered vehicles.....that tape scares away that 9/16" socket I seem to be missing all the time.....I hope I don't find it in the #7 intake runner.

Hey
I've been starved for tech. So many times people post links to LS1tech.com and it's been good reading so I figure if you can join 'em, then join 'em.

It's a good bunch here.

As you've seen, yes you can run a rear dist old school like. I had an LT1 cam for my TPI motor, but next got around to doing anything with it Sad panda.

I'm waiting for someone to graft a LSx Intake onto an LT1

I don't see that happening any time soon..unless it was high-rise idea.
The LS7 and L76 are the only ones that have rectangular Ports, look at how it is underneath..
