The foundation for what will eventually be the LT1 equivalent of Firehawk#608's (~JOSHUA)'s motor, still in progress. Shooting to have it done by the end of summer.

What'd you coat that with?

Not done polishing it, so nothing yet. I've narrowed it down to either AlsaCorp's "Clear4Chrome" or "Zyvere Nanocoat."

96silverram Jun 11, 2007 09:50 PM

How in the world can you polish an LT1 block :eek2: That looks insane

I must have it :judge: :)

Formula350 Jun 11, 2007 09:59 PM

I ruled out polishing because I could imagine iron polishing up. You did quite the job. I was just praying it wasn't chrome lol

Turnin20s Jun 11, 2007 10:06 PM

I didn't even bother painting mine, so its half rusty and half factory black. I figured whats the point??? You can't hardly see the damn motor and I wanted it to look unmolested so I just painted my intake. I'll try to get some pics soon

letsrun97z Jun 11, 2007 10:07 PM

wow thats gonna look sick i used to work at a chrome shop and we polished and chromed a civic block it took over 300hrs to do polish, copper- polish, nickle, chrome and cloor buff thought it was gay but brought in some money

Formula350 Jun 11, 2007 11:31 PM

haha I pray it was a seldom driven, show only car. I won't touch chrome after using a chrome oil pan and seeing how long it holds heat AFTER the motor is on. I had to wait 3hrs to change my oil when I was breaking in my motor since the pan was still hot to touch. I didn't feel like having hot oil on my hand.

The w/p isn't on but it is powder coated purple with the electric w/p. The intake, T-stat neck and some other little stuff was done as well. Polished fuel rails etc, etc.

Damn, some real clean looking motors. This is why I will never open my hood at a car show, my block is painted with a oil leak.:jest:

Car shows? Bah! I could care less if mine looks pretty, I'm only doing it for the benefits of an "early oil leak detection system." :fluffy:

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :judge:

Hey Tony do you know what size plug fits into the waterpump (oil cooler)? And how the Heck did you get the factory outlet out???

Imnotfast

I have heard of people just pulling these pipes out, but it's alot easier said than done lemme tell you. I just cut mine off with a carbon wheel and then went to town on the inside diameter of each pipe with a carbide burr. Once the walls of the pipe are worn thin enough, (gotta make sure to keep moving the burr around the whole perimeter to wear it away evenly), you'll eventually break through in a spot and you can just curl it in and pry it out.
