How to get to 12's....

What mods would a d-d automatic lt1 need to get into the 12 second range (how much power)???

State69champ Jun 17, 2007 05:51 PM

well lets see... I would say fullexhause, gears, tune, and a stall, with stickey tires would gt your pretty close.

thats what I have minus the tune. and im sure i will get pretty close..

the 13.5 in my sig is with stock exhause wth a cut out and a cai

projekt70chevelle Jun 17, 2007 05:59 PM

I dont think i would want the stall or gears (lower gas mileage) since its a daily driver... What should i be runnin if i already have K&n cai, pacesetters (stock y, no cat, flowmaster), b&m shift kit (auto), ss wheels(pretty soft rubber), jet chip stage II, and a 52mm tb??

State69champ Jun 17, 2007 06:04 PM

I would say mid 13s..

get yourself some kind of cat back or true duals... the flowmaster sucks.

but i mean if your looking for gasmilage buy a civic.. you have a hot rod not a grocery getter.

seriously.. just save up and buy some 1500dollar beater for a daily driver.. or be cool like me and buy a bike :)

If you dont want to lower MPG any and still want power I would get a nitrous kit. BTW I have 3.73's on my dd and in the city my mpg did not drop. Only on the highway.

I also saw in an earlier post that you are looking at a cam. If you are looking at a cam than mpg concerns are out the window.

BizZzatch350 Jun 17, 2007 06:32 PM

I ran 12s with bolt ons, LTs, 3200 stall, still have the stock gears

projekt70chevelle Jun 17, 2007 06:37 PM

what are the stock gears?

BizZzatch350 Jun 17, 2007 06:45 PM

3.23s

projekt70chevelle Jun 17, 2007 06:54 PM

well i guess what i mean when i say gas mileage is that i wanna be able to cruise the interstate bustin a buck twenty and not be redlinin the damn thing...

projekt70chevelle Jun 17, 2007 06:55 PM

but since somenone decided to bring up my infamous cam issue... any suggestions?

the_merv Jun 17, 2007 07:28 PM

I had the Hot Cam Kit in mine, got high 12.5's with just the Cam, very mild Head work, Tune, 3.73's and a 2000 Stall. I had full Intake/Exhaust mods as well.

projekt70chevelle Jun 17, 2007 07:31 PM

where'd u get the cam, and did u replace any springs or anything when u did it?

the_merv Jun 17, 2007 07:45 PM

Cam Kit came from Summit, comes with everything. It comes with LT4 Springs, they are barely enough to sustain the Hotcam when you put it in and with the 1.6 RR's. I would look for a .600" rated spring for any Cam for a LT1, you will be good for a long time with that.

That_guy Jun 17, 2007 07:53 PM

full bolt ons / sticky tires / lt4 hotcam

Spray It!

Is 16-17 miles to the gallon bad? This is with a cam, 4.10's, 3600 vig and the rest of the sig.

Start with a small cam that increases power in the stock rev range, (Crane 227, Lingenfelter 211/219), and throw the biggest heads you can afford at it.

DriftZ28 Jun 17, 2007 11:22 PM

I ran an 11.9 with my set up. Bolt-ons and 150hp shot.
