it's better balanced and lighter.

still kinda strong too.

plus it comes from the ls1 and as we know, the ls1 was touched by the hand of god... so with that logic, it makes our cars slightly god like.

i dont know. It makes those 0-150 runs alot smoother, thats all i know.

I can get one of these for $50 from a junkyard... hmm... Your saying that it was the 2000+ models that had the good one? <--- Can some one second that? I will make sure to ask for a 2001 DS then. hehe...

On a 450rwhp (all motor) car I built for a customer, the pieces had to be shoveled off the track on the 3rd pass with 315 drag radials. In case you never saw one exploded, they have cardboard inside them.....

2-3 times the price and half as strong

Yes they are safe when they come apart good thing too!

I got my 1LE shaft years ago after a small trip to 170+ MPH

The stock shafts would twist up at high speeds so GM put out a TSB on them I got a free aluminium shaft from the dealer under warranty

BTW Lonnie above has that shaft I got from the dealer in 98 He got it in 99

And you're qualified to make such statements because you've personally broken how many?

The only benefit I see is weight reduction. By the way guys, I just bought me a 1999 Trans am, which years have the tsb/recall on the drive shaft?

The aluminum has the appeal of less rotating mass weight..plus it puts a damper on vibration. Just wish there was a good idea of how much power they handle..

They will handle 100,000 rwhp all day long...........Until you bolt on a set of slicks.
