It was driving me nuts on how you could enough water in the cylinders to lock thing up, now its clear considering the lowered car and the CAI. Right now I have the shorter K&N filter on my AS&M CAI rather than tha longer one that comes on the FIPK or other CAI's. Maybe this is the reason AS&M decided on this particular filter.
I have wondered many times if LT1 CAI's would be prone to a problem like this. I remember driving mine through 6" of water and then my heart stoppped when I started to wonder if this could happen on my motor.
On a side note I drove my Jeep Wrangler into a 24" deep mud hole and that motor sucked water and hydro locked. I had to pull the plugs and squirt the water out, I did not bend rods but it killed the rod and main bearings.
