Anyone have Hypertech's 160?

Every pic I see of Hypertech's 160 for the LT1 is this one:

http://static.summitracing.com/globa...hyp-1009_w.jpg

But that image name is 1009, and the part number is 1008. Could be a typo, but there is a 1009, for the 92-94 4.3L

So does anyone here have the Hypertech that can verify if that really is how it looks?

Which leads me to this: How important is that bottom check valve? If it doesn't have that, is it really that important? I figure GM wouldn't have it if it didn't serve a fairly important role... :jest:

Sorry to make another thread, but editing the initial post's Subject line, doesn't reflect on the forums :\

imnotplutonium Jul 10, 2007 03:45 PM

yea looks like what mine did oh so many years ago

Formula350 Jul 10, 2007 03:53 PM

So what the heck is the point of the check valve then?

96mikez28 Jul 10, 2007 04:55 PM

I remember the hypertech looked just like the stocker when side by side

Hot94Z28 Jul 10, 2007 06:09 PM

That's the EXACT reason I was sceptical about getting one.

StealthFormula Jul 10, 2007 09:55 PM

I have the one Lienus is showing that is the correct LT1 one which is 1008

97Z28LT1 Jul 10, 2007 10:58 PM

Yeah, you want to get the LT1 specific one with the elongated stopper on the bottom. Those standard SBC ones won't work.

Don't quote me on this but IIRC it has something to do with recirculating the fluid through the heater core, if someone knows better please chime in

It's been years... forgot what it looks like

The company I bought mine from did the same thing. They had pictured the one above but sent me part 1008, with the elongated stopper on the bottom. Thats the one you want to go with.

fbodyfreek Jul 11, 2007 11:31 AM

Thanks. If the modding we did to ours (drilled 4 small holes in it) doesn't bring the temp down to where we want it, then I know the Hyper should be alright to get.

The correct part # for the Hypertech is 1008. I've had one in mine for years.
