I'm thinking of some springs I am looking at dropping my car with lowering springs. I am not sure what would be the best for me and price is a factor. I looked at Edlebrock, Summits, and Eibach. I dont want to drop the car more than the 1.3 in springs. But I looked at the 1.5in, and the price was right. I also dont want to change the shocks right now also because of price. I am wanting to put them on myself but I am scared to do the fronts because I dont have the tools to keep the shocks compressed. And I need to get an alignment done after I install them, right? I was looking at these two: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch Also at this 1.5in drop: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch |
Have you considered Sam Strano springs? BTW, I'd consider doing shocks at the same time cuz of the work involved. |

You'd come out ahead on labor and a little cash if you can wait and do them all at once. It's a lot of trouble in my opinion. |

Hes got a good point...Im waiting for extra cash to put springs on my car and will be doing shocks at the same time...Im sure alot of folks dont replace the shocks so Im sure it can be done but would save you time down the road. |
Do not attempt to do this without the proper tools...you could be seriously hurt. |
eibach prokit. I have LT's with no issues at all, just have to watch for the larger then normal speed bump and some driveways |
get the hotchkis spring:) you will love them:) (i have long tubes with a catted y-pipe) look at mine: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/756482-lowered-lt1-t.html |

Don't even bother with new springs if you're not gonna get new shocks as well. The ride is going to be terrible. |
Springs without shocks = very bad idea. Not only are you causing yourself a lot more work in the long run, but chances are your stock shocks will bottom out on some bumps. Lowering with improper shocks will wear out your shocks FAST as well, so be ready for the crappiest ride you've ever felt. |
I would get some QA1's if I were you. I just picked myself up a set of QA1 R Series front coilovers and rear F Series shocks for 550 shipped. Then all you need to do is come up with a solution for the rear springs and you are good to go with adjustable fronts, and adjustable shocks and struts. |
I've seen friends try to run QA1 springs on the street and what they've found is that they just don't last. They are a good quality spring if you don't drive much, but for a lot of driving, they just don't hold up. You'd be better off doing the shocks first and then springs later. The Koni's will give you some drop (.5" or so) and then you can remove the rear spring isolators and use the rubber hose method to drop the rear some. You can also try using V6 springs in the rear if you want. There are plenty of choices of springs. For the drop you want, look at BMR, SLP, Strano, DMS, and the Pro Kit. And yes, you will need an alignment as well as an adjustable panhard bar to adjust the rear end. This helps me a lot: http://www.angelfire.com/my/fastcar/suspension.html |

I know of one guy that blew out the front shocks. It could have been a bad set, but I just wanted to mention it. |
y dont u just do it for free and cut a coil out of your stock springs? measure the distance between each coil when all the weight is on them and each coil u cut out will lower it that much. so if u want to lower it half the distance just cut out 180 degrees of coil. maybe this wont work on f bodies, but it is a common trick with older cars. it will also stiffen the ride a little if thats what u want. call it redneck, but many people do it |
Its a bitch to get the front spring off the shock. Trust me its better to get shocks the same time. Plus your probably going to have to buy new isolators for the top when you do it. |
Another vote for Strano springs and at least Bilsteins if not Konis. Definitely do both springs and shocks at the same time. |
