Default Why won't these work on an LT1?

I'm trying to sort out my air cleaner solution for my truck. i am running a speed density setup so no more MASS. Jegs lists these as fitting TPI cars but not the LT cars. Is it simply because of the mass?

this is all the room I have to work with. Will an aluminum elbow fit? Thinking about making a cold air setup drawing air from under the front drivers side of the bumper.

If you make a cold air kit routing it that far do yourself a favor and use a MAF because that much plumbing and you will have room for one.

I'm running a megasquirt in speed density mode though, no maf. You are correct though, if I was using a stock pcm I would have plenty room for a maf.

The issue is not enough room for it to go on the throttle body do to the thermostat housing. I have tried it.

The reason that particular filter won't work is because the lip of the rubber grommet won't clear the thermostat housing on the water pump. It hangs too low.

This filter will work:
