differances in LT1s?

93s are speed density
94-97 are MAF
95-97 have the vented opti
96&97 are obd2
Vettes got the 4 bolt mains-all of them, or just the LT4s?

what are any other differances in them? im going to buy one soon and want to know what to look for.
my plans for the car are 383 or 396, possible force induction if its in the budget, LTCC so im not too worried about the vented/non-vented opti.
what are differances in the computers?
thanks

3 different ones. 93, 94-95, and 96-97.

Pampered-Z 08-21-2007 02:43 PM

93s had many different parts from the 94-97. Opti, timing chain cover, cam, intake, fuel rails, injectors, computer, TB, headers, trans, gauge cluster, axles/ rear brakes rotors, brakes.

stay with the 95 setup its obd1 but vented opti if its a project swap, if your buying a car go 96+, obd2 is easy'er for emissions to pass

Just a couple of tiny problems with your fact sheet, eg the 1992 Corvette LT1 is 300 hp 330lbft but in 1993 torque bumped up 10lbft to 340lbft

Not all of the rods are PM the switch was sometime around in 94 with PM the norm in 95.

...there's the change from batch fired injectors to sequential fuel injection around 1994, a better flowing aluminum LT1 head sometime late in production (96/97) but for some reason the HP/TQ ratings stayed the same from 93-96 in the Y-body LT1s (the late heads are not what you want if you plan on having them ported....neither LE or AI will use them as cores for the higher performance packages)

i know this is a dumb question but what do u mean by no emission??

01Z28M6 08-21-2007 08:24 PM

speeddensity.org has a sticky that describes the 4th gen differences in detail.

i'll even give you your 6 speed back... :usa: i got a trans lined up

Formula350 08-21-2007 09:18 PM

I like not having a MAF, but I hate not being able to tune my car as easily as 94+ :(

I'd agree 95 for all the benefits and little, to no, drawbacks. Going LTCC, you'll already have the crank trigger too.

Z28_DAD 08-21-2007 09:31 PM

for those that mentioned emissions, its not a problem. 95 and older are not required anymore and 96&97s are easy to get to pass with tuning.

That is if you live in Illinois. In the state I live, my 95 is due to be checked this year.

Black94Z28 08-21-2007 09:41 PM

didnt you say one of your friends wanted to trade auto for manual?

socal 08-21-2007 09:42 PM

emissions out the tail are 20 years back here in TX obd2 well so long as the ecm says its ok but only in an obd2 car anything within 20 it up the tail
