why would my rpms change after cam install?
Well after i installed my hotcam and got a chance to take it around the block once or twice i noticed that my rpm and gear changes were different. I also had the car tuned during this time and the underdrive pully was removed.
Before the cam i would run around town in 5th gear, 45mph and 1500 rpms.
After the cam i now have to do 2100 rpms in 5th to obtain 45mph.
Now remember the only changes were the under drive was removed, tuned and hotcam was installed. I do run 4:10's but they have been in the car for years. Could a clutch thats getting worn out cause this effect? is my motor really pushing that much power that my stock clutch is constantly slipping? ( cause that would mean im pushing a crap ton of power which i dont believe i am )

it was probably never tuned for the 4.10's in the first place, i just checked my spread sheet and 4.10's with the stock diameter tire comes in at about 1800 rpm and being is how every stock tach i have seen reads atleast 150-200 rpm high that could probably explain why your seeing 2100 rpm at 45 mph now
