93-02 Rear End Differences besides the gears is there any diff. in the rear ends 93-02. im trying to swap mine over and the one im putting in is out of a ws6 and i think it had traction control cause there are electrical connectors that go out to each side of the rear end, and i looked at mine on my car which doesnt have traction control and i dont have them. will this rear end still work on my car if i swap over all my old brake lines and just pull those harness' off? |
Hah I'm yo man :D I jsut went though this! 93-97 use 11.7" brakes 98-02 use 12" brakes. 99+ has better posi. which is torque sensing vs the older friction cones (98 and older) That's it. |
They are the same width..I think the LT1 Brakes clear the 15" Draglites better.. |
the rear end is out of a 96 WS6, but do i have to swap out the axles, dont the axles on a traction control vehicle have a ringed gear on the outside of them? |

I have done this. I just extended the wire that used to go to the differential housing over to the driverside sensor. Seems to work fine for me. |
I have a 93Z and put a newer rear end cause mine was howling when i bought it. I have only heard of this on tow occasions but the rear i put in was a hair bit narrower. When i place the wheels on and torqued the lugnuts the inside of the rotor hit the caliper mounting bracket that i swapped over from my LT1. I had to remove the caliper and have two ~1/8" spacer cut to go on behind my rotors to clear the caliper mounts. Like i said i have only heard of this happening to one other car so it may have been a fluke. |
