coated....keep temps under the hood down and may be less likely to burn wires, look much better, and stand up to the elements better. Definetly worth $100 more I wouldnt consider buying uncoated headers personally. I have only run coated on both of my LT1's.

+2 for coated, you will regret it if you don't.

Coated... They seem to cool off much faster as well. If they are uncoated the rust almost instantly...

It just depends what you want. The coated headers definetly look better and are said to run cooler. Most of us are running cai, so I'm not sure what the big deal is about keeping under hood temps a few degrees cooler. I spend my money to go faster, until I see some real world data that shows a definete performance advantage, it's un-coated for me.

I have to ask you guys, how many headers have you actually owned and if these were your experience? If not what are you basing these claims on? I've had uncoated headers that lasted well over ten years. In fact the same headers are still in use today although a friend actually owns the car now. The uncoated pacesetters on my 94 have been in use for over a year. Not only are they not rusted away, but they don't even have surface rust yet.

Well me and my buddy have coated ones and the coating on ours fell off in a matter of 2 months. Id save the the $100 and get some heat temp. paint and do that. Whatever process they use to coat them is horrible.

I wish i had gone coated, went uncoated to save some money. I live in cali though so rust isn't a huge issue

Get what you like, just don't listen to BS to base your decision on. If you think you want coated headers consider buying uncoated and sending them to Chris at FX http://www.ceramicexhaust.com/ . I've saw some of their work and it's beautiful. Chris is also a great guy to deal with.

idk honestly how much of an advantage there is on coated but they are coated for a reason. also i am not buying pacesetter lt's i just don't know about them. my friend has had ceramic coated hooker lt's for a while now and they are still in great shape. so in about 3 weeks that's what i'm ordering.

I've had both coated and uncoated.
The coated headers cool off quicker, lower under hood temps, better percieved quality.
Uncoated headers warmer under the hood but very functional.
The one thing I liked with uncoated headers is that if you wanna port match the flange and get rid of weld slag (pacesetters) you can, with the coated you cannot. The flip side is that if you let your car sit for an extended amount of time with uncoated headers they will rust real quick to the point they will rot. If you run your car everyday with uncoated or store indoors, you will not have a problem.
I like my coated headers, my car seems to run smoother and is faster with them.
Either way you cannot go wrong.
Very tight budget = uncoated.
Willing to spend a little extra = coated.

Sam Pace made some very good points. The uncoated headers that I had last for so long were on a car that was driven daily the whole time. The one year old non rusting pacesetters that I have now are on a car that is rarely driven, but it lives in the garage.

Lower under the hood temps are more about longevity on surrounding parts rather than performance. I have experience with both and only will go coated now.
