Default The car overheated...pics inside

Well the car over heated last saturday because the low coolant level sensor popped out so I drained the oil and everything seemed fine. The car is not over heating at all and doesn't seem to be down on any power, but I noticed that there is alot of milk like residue on the oil cap and in the oil fill tube aswell. I have never noticed this before and was wondering what you guys though?

I realized the car was running hot when it was running at about 210* and by the time I got it back in the driveway and cut off it was at about 245ish so I cut the ignition on so i could read the gauges and it climbed past past 260*. Yall think i still might have blown a headgasket or something? Here are some pictures of what im seeing.

that residue inside the cap can be perfectly normal if the cars oil temperatures haven't gotten up to the point where they can burn off condensation. the condensation will form usually where it's coldest in the engine, and that's the oil cap and filler tube.

It was at 240 when i got it to the driveway....I TURNED THE CAR OFF (as stated above) then turned the IGNITION to the ON position and saw that the gauge was past 260. I did not drive it until it got to 260.

Yeah I'm hoping it is just condensation, but it's weird that i have never seen that in the 2 years i have had the car. I'm going to put about 30miles on it tonight and see how she does. I hope I am just being paranoid. I just put this motor together and I really do not looking forward to replacing head gaskets...

The only thing that stumps me is that fact that there is no water in the oil and the car is not down on power or overheating...

your suppose to add the purple ice TO antifreeze/coolant. water alone in the upa dn down temps is not good for the car.

why arent you running antifreeze? like stated above that ice stuff is supposed to be added to antifreeze and water. how do the rockers look inside. is it milky in there or just on the cap?

btw. i have the same stuff on my oil filler cap also. i drive my car like 20 miles a week for short periods. and its cold where i live.

if in doubt a compression test will more often than not confirm a headgasket problem.

See if the fluid in the radiator bubbles out while the car is running(like if he water was boiling), thats usually a sign of a blown head gasket.

I doubt it is blown if their is no coolant in the oil and it doesn't overheat anymore. Driving with a blown head gasket you will usually overheat very quickly. but yeah check for white smoke too

that is just condensation and is normal this time of year. to truely figure it ot is to either pressure check the cooling system, compression check or look for the other tale tell signs. but I highly doubt it blew.

I work at a small shop and have personally done over 1,000 oil changes. That in the picture is very minimal to what I see in most cars. Several cars have it to where it completely fills the cap. I would drive it and see what happens, but I say you are worrying yourself about nothing.

Fans are fine, the reason it got hot was because the coolant level sensor popped out and the water drained. I drove it all lastnight and it's fine. I wipped the condensation out and it did not come back. Im just being paranoid because i just put this motor together.
