I've gotta do emissions, but I don't believe they sniffed my exhaust when I got mine done last year. Only a gas-cap and computer scan. So I will delete the emissions junk, use an ORY, and tune the rear O2's, AIR, and EGR out. This is here in TN. Anyone else live in TN deal with this?

It's goin to throw a Code when you disconnect all that stuff..you have to get it Tuned out. Personally I would go Non-Emissions.. does your Car get checked?

If the Tuner is good he will also adjust A/F Ratios and Timing.. get you some more ponies out of the Car since you now have Headers on it. Properly done it will add around 30 - 35hp total.

Without a tune you will have a check engine light and car won't be at it's maximum performance and NO IT WILL NOT KNOCK! I also have ceramic coated pacesetter longtubes.

camarostripes, you have seriously over-thought this bro. ok, does your state do emissions checks? no- RACE style, yes they do emissions - NON race, style (these HAVE egr provisions) (provisions means egr will hook up to the headers). I live in MI and went with race (no testing), it is NO BIG DEAL to remove the egr/air from your car. if you can put a socket on a wrench you can do this. YOU CAN! actually..I think a well trained monkey could do it. Felpro gaskets (from autozone) work fine, mine haven't leaked and they sealed great (BUY THOSE).

have you thought about the rest of the exhaust after the headers ?

Just what I said. the pcm won't be tuned for the mods that are done for the car, therefore on fuel injected car it will not be at it's peak performance. Seriously man just go start pulling it apart. I hadn't had mine egr/air system off yet when I first started reading this thread and I went and did it and it was so easy I was actually embarressed because from what I had read in this thread I thought it was going to be difficult and information was being left out, but in a reality IT WAS NOT HARD AT ALL!!!

So go give it a try man and you will probably feel the same way I did when you are finished.

do f-body guys have a way to get around emissions crap on obd2 cars? That is tune out **** and codes so when I go to emissions and hook up the code reader, I'll be good?

Just wondering because DSM guys have a program like that, while it's not cheap it does get people around emissions on obd2 cars.

My car is a 1996 T/A and here in Chicago they just hook them up. No visual inspection or sniffs.
