Another LT1 won't start

Shocking, I know. The brain buster is this car has 34k on it and gave me no sign of anything wrong. I ran out of gas in the driveway (ignorant, yes), put more in, and it won't start. I got it to fire up with some carb cleaner but dies quickly. Clearly the motor is not getting any fuel and I'm not hearing any noise from the fuel pump upon turning the key either. Is there a fuse/relay somewhere that I'm missing or is my pump fried? There's nothing in either fuse panel that gives any indication of relevance to the fuel pump.

your pump is probably fried. i thought there was a relay in the box under the hood that says something about fuel, but im not sure. the chances of a relay going bad at the same time you ran out of gas is slim to none.

Revelation Z28 Apr 13, 2008 07:08 PM

the relay is under the driver's side foot rest.

The Fuel pump Relay isn't under the hood well its not on my car anyways "94" Its under the dash far right side behind the flat piece where your left foot is. one screw to take it off.

wow, guess i was wrong. sorry bout that. i wouldve looked but i dont have the car right now.

formulajunky Apr 13, 2008 07:13 PM

well on must cars its under the hood have no idea why they put it there, I had a mechanic tell me i was wrong, That the fuel pump relay couldn't be there, When i was replacing mine.

Well there is a relay in the location you guys specified. Unfortunately, there is nothing wrong with it. Looks like the pump burnt up when it ran dry :-(

You can always check to fuel pressure with a gauge when you turn the key on, dont remember what the fuel pressure is supposed to be. You may also want to check power at the pump, probably not that but it never hurts to check before going through changing the pump

robsquikz28 Apr 15, 2008 06:01 PM

chech fuel psi. it is probably dead should be about 45 on koeo

Powder96SS Apr 15, 2008 06:05 PM

if there was any debris in the tank floating around it could have got pumped through and clogged the fuel filter. mine did that once or if the gas can you used to put gas in had something in it

sf35thle Apr 15, 2008 09:05 PM
