LT's vs Shortys

neighbor is about to throw on some headers..he wants to do shortys...i told him LT's were the way to go..am i right? atleast thats how it is for the almighty LS1 lol jkk

You are righter than right. Tell him he is about to waste a lot of money and time for essentially nothing. LT's or go home. If he lives in Cali then make him go Mid's otherwise no contest for the LT's.

Yup LT's or leave it stock :D

shorties if he just wants it to look good and not have to do much work, longtubes will net the most power for the money.

Shorties blow..there's noting wrong with getting some nice mid lenghts. I put a set of mac mids on mine and they kick ass.

camar0corey Apr 14, 2008 05:13 PM

If he is dead set on shorties, I'm in FL and looking to get rid of mine.:jest:

LM97Z Apr 14, 2008 07:33 PM

LTs all the way !!!! After installing mine, it feels like a whole different ride, when you mash the go pedal of coarse lol. Well worth the investment.

That's my line, but I'm in Tx. I did this swap twice, DON'T BUY SHORTIES

Tsar Apr 14, 2008 09:35 PM

some states have emissions, so you cant really go with Long tubes if you wanna pass or get pulled over by the cops (and i yes i know a few that have been pulled over for having LT's, i'm guessing the smell gave it away.)

So ill have to go with shorties eventually.

qwickLT1WS6 Apr 14, 2008 09:36 PM

LONGTUBES or GO HOME

I8ASaleen Apr 14, 2008 09:46 PM

*cough* I'm selling mine too (96-97 emissions legal with all the hookups-I'll even throw in any emissions parts ur missing) *cough* *cough*

Tsar Apr 14, 2008 09:50 PM

My state has emissions testing and I've not had a problem. And as far as the
cops go, if you're running an acceptable catback or proper duals, the cops
wont bother you . . . well, unless you live in a tiny town.

LM97Z Apr 15, 2008 01:08 AM

The cops won't bother you if your not being stupid or making alot of noise, thats a rediculous assumption to make, what do you think they do, sniffer tests lol, Oh i smell exhaust fumes, better pull this guy over :eyes:, they have WAY more important things to think about, any "SNIFF" test is up to the emission stations, now if your exhaust is dragging/load or falling off, then yes, you might get stopped, but all you'll get is a ticket (maybe), the cops could give a rats ass if your running cats or not, if you have a current plates/insurance & inspection, thats all there care about, if you don't beleive me, ask a cop. You can put LTs & a custom Y with high flow cats if you want, i'm sure it'll pass, do you know how many F bodies run around here with the crappiest exhaust amagineable, & they have currect stickers & never get stopped by the cops for a sniffer test, maybe some states do this, if so, then those cops have WAY too much time on there belt. I have LTs & a ORY, I've alliminated the cats on my 97, if i get stopped for a sniffer/cat test "ONLY" by a cop, i'll be the first to let you'll know.

1996firebirdformula Apr 15, 2008 07:30 AM

No emission here so you can run anything :D

yes actually that is exactly what happened, he got pulled over and the first thing that a cop did, was ask him if he had cats on. Later he said it was because he could smell his car as he passed by him. So how about :gtfo: if you do not know what you are talking about. He let him go, but said if he sees his car again it will be towed. So yea :gtfo:

Also it is against the law to MOVE cats so you would fail the visual part of emissions if you get a catted y-pipe for your LT's. Especially in NJ, unless you pay someone, which i do not want to waste money on, and it also got progressively harder to do. SO before opening your trap how about you get a clue about LOCAL rules which I was talking about, because your clearly do NOT apply in my town. f'ing 08's...kthxbye

Formula96 Apr 15, 2008 09:34 AM

the funny thing is that in cali they have sniffers on some on ramps... So they get you when you really gassin on it.

Shorties are :gay:

Your chances of getting pulled over by the cops are slim, plus you can out run them with LT'S.. HA!
