what i need to get into 12's! hey im pretty stock lt1 ws6 with just hurst shifter and brand new nitto drag radials. wanted to know what you guys think would be the minimum i would need in order to break into high 12's. im m6 with the stock 3.42's. thanks |
get a cam and a new gear and you'll see your self in low 12's easy , everyone here is doing it. also some l/t headers/exhaust . i have a 96t/a automatic with 3.42,cai,l/t headers/exhaust,M/T D/R's, and ran a 13.6 so i'd just go with what i said...hopefully your suspen.is good also. |
nitrous would be the quickest simplest way to reach ur goal.... but most dont like going that route (including myself) |
Nitrous. Good driver. |
Full Exhaust, 4.10's, LCA's, Torque Arm, Tune, 1.6RR's and good driving will get you there. Only thing is the 10 bolt wont last too long with 4.10's at the strip unfortunately. |
I'm going to say Full bolt ons, and some suspension will getcha there depending on where you are and the DA you're at...hell I went 13.22 with bolt ons and a stall on a boo boo trans with some Nitto DRs with the even more boo boo 2.73s |
nitrous probably the cheapest and quickest way to do it. naturally aspirated costs a bit more. |
I would say full bolt ons/tune & a cam will get you 12s, maybe even with the 3.42 gears & stickies, but your main concern at that point will be how long the rear will hold up with hard lauches (because you'll need them for good 60ft times), & from what i've seen/exsperianced now, the auto cars are a sinch for low 13s, but the stick cars are much harder to achieve this & will test your driving skills, thats when shit starts going SNAP in the azz end  Nitrous might be the easiest way, but then again, you'll wear out a higher mileaged engine quik, plus to do it right, you'll need a better fuel pump & injectors along with other stuff like a window switch. |
Nitrous is still kinda useless without cai, catback, headers. Just go down the line and don't be scared by what others say on here. My car is an a4 with nowhere near full bolt ons and I made a 12.96 last year. This was with a stock converter and TRUE street tires that I run every day. You don't in any way need a cam or nitrous unless you want deep 12's or 11's. Remember suspension is the best mod since it's how the power gets to the ground. |
I have a CAI, Full Exhaust, BMR Solid LCA's, and 3.42's, Nitto DR's and all the free mods and I ran a 13.6 @103mph consistentaly. If I could get it to hook I feel confident I'd see low 13's with just my setup. With a stall and some traction I'd prolly be @ 12.9... But with an m6 I'd probably be there now. Basically It doesn't take much as long as you can get it to hook up! Traction is the biggest issue. Good Luck. James |
this thread makes me want to buy a bunch or new parts right now...my grad party can not come soon enough |
LMAO.... I feel ya! My motor can't get built fast enough. I've been trying like hell to get some extra money to finish the damn thing up. :D |
Oh, it don't even take full bolt-ons to get there, not even headers are NEEDED. |
My car with the previous driver(who couldnt drive) went 13.4 with full suspension, 1.6 rockers and ewp. Better driver and some dr's and it shoulda have been close, so yea it wont take much. |
