Best drop in replacement valvespring's? I need to know the best valvespring's that can handle .550" lift easily and have adaquite spring pressure for around 230ish duration..is there a good spring/retainer combo that will handle this without milling out the spring pocket's?..do comp 987 dual spring's fit the LT1 head's without machining the spring pocket?..Thank's, Carter |
Re: Best drop in replacement valvespring's? Comp Cams dual valve springs will easily handle that...CCA-987-16 or CCA-986-16. one of the two. |
Re: Best drop in replacement valvespring's? I use the crane part number 10308-1. It's a dual spring kit comes with shim, retainers, locks. It's good for .600" lift.Got it from Summit for $148. |
Re: Best drop in replacement valvespring's? I'm running the 977s with no issues - EVERYONE I talked to before the install said it wouldn't work w/o machining the seats - worked just fine for me :). Ryan |
Re: Best drop in replacement valvespring's? With no machining I dropped in the cmotorsports springs I cant remeber which kind but if you call them they will know what you are talking about. They were only 48.00 too and have held high rpms with my cam |
Re: Best drop in replacement valvespring's? Keep in mind that there is much more to selecting valvepsrings that what the max lift spec is. The lobe profile will have a big impact on how much open/closed pressure you need. Make sure you install them at the correct height so you know you are actually seeing the correct pressures! Ryan |
