94 TA- Dallas Inspection Help!! ? Please !!
I have a 94 Trans Am with an LT4 383. The car has been sitting in my gargage due to a failed transmission. I just got the transmission rebuilt and am ready to drive the car.
Dallas has emissions with a dyno. I failed horribly.
The car has no codes set- scanned.
It has hooker long tube headers with a cat installed, then into 2 bullet mufflers.
Car seems to run fine, maybe a little rich?
Can anyone help me to get an inspection sticker? Are there any ways to get it to pass? ie. the inspection recommended I try RPX in the tank, 93 octane, drive the **** out of it for a couple of tanks.. ?
Help! Please !!

No EGR- LT4's don't have it. I checked all my paperwork and can't find the specs on the cam ie. nowhere listed on my receipts? Hooker long tube headers & single cat.
The shope recommended I put RXP in the tank and drive it for 2 tanks, put super unleaded in, and drive it hard to heat the cat up- retest.
I went for a drive last night. I think at WOT I might have an exhasut leak on the drivers side?
Failed=
pass= mine= pass mine
HC (PPM) 114 521 117 457 Fail
CO % .63 8.97 .065 9.15 Fail
CO2 % 9.1
O2 % 0.1
NOX (ppm) 796 51 879 46 Pass
Dilution >6.0 18.07 >6.0 18.25 Pass

Those numbers are very high. I dont think RXP will help, I havent really seen it help on any of the cars ive inspected that have used it. How old is the cat? Cam specs would be very helpful. The most common problem for HC and CO is a bad cat.

That sucks i hope u find ur problem. I have not been able to drive my car for 3 years becase inspection failure. When they fail here in ny they tell u why and how much it will cost to fix. What did they recomend other than the additive

I think I've found 2 problems? Exhaust leak where driver side header ties to Y pipe and possible burnt plug wire. The Taylor wire isn't burned through but definatley cracked and was sitting on a header pipe.
It seems to miss only @ wot.
I'm going to replace plugs and wires, fix the exhaust leak and see what happens?
