Default What auto trans used in 93 Z28s?

Hey guys got a quick question. What auto transmission was used in 1993 model Z28s? Need a solid 100% sure answer. If you do not know don't add confusion to the issue. Thanks!

The 700r4.

It's basically the same as the 4l60e except everything is mechanical.

i just got done dealing with this issue lol

did a v6 to v8 conversion using a 93 z28 parts car.

assumed it had a 4l60e in it but after i tore it apart to rebuilt it
turned out to be a 700r4.

some say all 93 have 700r4's and some say just early 93's do.

easy way to tell is if there is a cable on the throttle body linkage besides
the throttle cable and cruise control. should have 3 cables.

the third one goes the transmission on the passanger side.

if it has that then it deff. has a 700r4

I can't check. I was looking at buying a 93 Z with a missing transmission. Looking at it on the internet that is. It's too far away to just go look at for the heck of it. I have a 4L60E here but I was certain 93s didn't run them.

From the speed density guys
Driveline The 93 used the 4L60 transmission which was controlled by a TV cable attached to the throttle body. The 94+ cars used the 4L60E which was electronically controlled, and had no TV cable provision. Because of this, the 93 had a slightly different throttle body than the 94+ cars.

I have the 700r4.. It's not a turd. Actually a great overdrive transmission when built right.

Who else has the best first gear ratio..3.06, lighting up the tires in first is always fun...my transmission is great, and i like the tv cable adjustment instead of the electronic, less **** to break and to tune. The 93 transmission is technically called the 4L60 without the e, a couple of people told me that it is a 700R4 with a reverse valve body, that is why trying to find a core is very hard. It was used in the 92-93 vettes, and the 93 camaros.

700r4 isn't the same as the 4L60. 700r4's do not have an electronically controlled speedometer, whereas the 4L60 does, which is the transmission in 1993's.

Yes they do. I have one out of a 91 RS in my 93. Definitely has a VSS on it.
