Default Water pump replaced, misfire now.

My friend just had her 97 WS6's water pump replaced at a shop. It has a misfire now all over the rpm range. I don't know much about the LT1's anymore, but I thought that maybe they got coolant/water all over the opti while changing it. She went in today and they flat out told her that the distributor can be completely submerged in water and still be fine. From what I remember that is not true at all, and there is a good chance she needs an opti now. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Well the opti is sealed and vented but that's a possiblility. As he said I'd check the coil and the wires first. Then the opti. And that shop is retarded.

they probably got rad fluid all over the opti when swapping the water pump but check the plug wires and make sure those retards at that shop didnt cross the firing order and make sure all connections are on good.
i second the above quote, never bring it to those retards again!
I dont believe you can or should put an opti in water, that is just retarded!

I had the same exact problem on mine and it was the opti. I swapped water pumps and spilled just a little bit of coolant and the car started fine but them started back firing and died. I started it again and the same thing happened. After the 2nd or 3rd time, it wouldn't start at all. I would take it back to that shop and tell them they owe you a new one.
