strong 4l60's? are they strong and can you put a manual valve body in them........ thanks matt |
manual valve body there isnt a reason for one? and they have been in the low 9's...and 5's in the 1/8 |
ProBuilt, Finish Line Transmissions, Rossler all do good work, Rossler has an available trans brake but as said not much reason for it. ProBuilt did mine. Understand a LOT has to do with the guy doing the work knowing what has to be done and taking the time to set it up right. Seen guys use good parts but have someone local just throw it together and the results are VERY bad. |
A good builder(local or not do your home work) and they will live just fine ;) |
Rossler is local to me, about a half hour. He will be getting my business. |
CPT 4l60e here and its holdin up just fine spraying 150 through the shifts |
Another key point in tranny work is how LONG has it been together, I have 4.5 years and I think about 50K on mine, had the current setup about half that time but the car was cammed when this tranny went in. Seen a LOT of trannies get good reviews for a few months or a year and then they all go to hell. So find someone who has been using one at at least the level you want to play at for a long time and miles. Rossler has built the single most impressive 4L60E I know of, has been to 146mph 1/4 mile mph in a 4400lbs car. Launch was soft so it only ran a 9.6 et. Only time he broke the tranny was when other parts like wheel studs sheared and the resulting sudden unloading and overrev did a little damage in the tranny and to the engine for that matter. Rossler is also the only one I know of with a transbrake for this tranny. |
I know of one car with over 750RWHP and 4,200lbs running mid to low tens and running open road races. after two years and 25k miles we tore it down and it was fine so we sealed it back up and two years later it is still rolling..... |
