Everytime I raced my 97 against another LT1 with about the same mods I'd win (except for one guy who had more mods)

I'm just going off of what the majority of people have said on this forum. I don't know if mines faster or not, nor do I actually care I got my car because I like it, and it'll beat the competition. Not all that interested in beating brethren

Had I known the differences between 93-95, I probably would've gotten a PCM car. But, I got what I got and while it needs some tlc, it's a fun car.

my lt1 ran a 14.7 with just exhaust. after gears and a set of shorties it dropped it to 14.0. lt4 cam and a crap stall took it to 13.4. now after the new motor it should be about 11.8 na.

You must be at a high elevation or that was your first time out racing. That's .2s slower than the white paper times.

Doesn't really matter, they are all slow stock .

Once you get to serious modding, besides for little technicalities, the year of the LT1 you started with doesnt really matter anymore.

While that can be a factor, there's been many people here with higher miles that still run low 14s.

Was anyone paying attention? Assuming its not just misinfo, apparently the 93 tranny had different gearing (at least some-maybe not all). That would easily explain how they seem a bit faster than the 94-97's. Add that to the fact that there's bound to be a few 'factory freaks' somehow achieving a few more ponies than the average car that rolled off the assembly line and there's your mystery solved. Lest we forget, we're ALL always dead honest about our cars being bone stock when we talk about racing and beating another car, right?!? hehe... riiiiiiiight....

Maybe the drivers of the 93s are just a bit better.

Depends upon whose rowing the gears... steeper tranny gearing doesn't necessarily imply that the 93's are faster.

I'd still rather have my 97 over the earlier lt1s. Upgrades to interior, and wayyyy better looking factory wheels sold me.

That's what I was thinking

Anyways, bottom line is LT1's are LT1's. Whether they have better tranny gear ratios, or 4 catalytic converters and 4 o2 sensors, they are still that good ol' 350cid small block with reverse cooling and an optispark distributor system

i have to say the 93's are a little bit peppier i have and m26 6 speed and on a stock setup with open shorties as my only mod no o2s and a burned plug wire i ran an 8.9 in the 1/8th with tires so bald you could see the metal, and i raced a pp 94 6 speed with a hot cam kit and he only had a car on me from a dig and i would say that for a stock car creeping one car behind his i would say 93's are peppy at least the 6 speeds are and don't say I'm a better driver b/c i may be now but when i raced him he was the one that teached me how to drive

and now i have a cc306 and a properly running motor so i cant imagine what times im going to be running
