What cause a T56 to grind when cold?
For some reason, durring the first ten minutes of driving, if I shift into fourth or fifth, the transmission will grind just a little. (Sorta like bad synchros). The problem then goes away...
Any ideas?

my mn12 shifts like absolute dick until maybe 5-10 minutes of driving, gotta shift reaaaaaaaal easy... sounds like you have a bad synchro but your fluid is masking the problem as it heats up... since its cold and thick its more viscous than it should be so it can't get into the tighter spaces and lube the necessary area enough to 'smooth out' the synchro. sucks, i'd just let the car heat up more before you start driving, or maybe skip shifting into that gear to avoid any more damage while the tranny's cold.

Start with changing the fluid in the transmission . Install non synthetic ATF Dex/Mer III and see what it does . After that , you might try bleeding the hydraulics . Down here in Texas , I see more issues with hydraulics right after it starts to get cold .
