Default Very hard to put car in Reverse

The other day it became very hard to but it in reverse. Its like a very strong spring or something is trying to keep it out of reverse. I use my knee to help me push it over far enough. It goes in to reverse and doesnt pop out or anything. I am planning on rebuilding it myself within the next couple months but just wondering what happened. thanks for your help.

Where is it located? Also it is not locked out just hard to put it in. Like it has quite a bit of pressure on it.

Also check you ENG SEN (yellow 20A) fuse under the hood. if that blows out your lockout can be disabled along w/ dome other things.

Check the fuse first, the lockout solenoid is just left of where the shifter is mounted. It doesnt 'lock out' reverse 100% - just makes it real hard to get it over into the gate if it isnt working..

This happened to mine tonight too, very hard to get it into reverse. It also threw on the SES light.

sometimes air in the hydraulic system can cause this, mine was terrible to get in reverse before the new MC, and I bled the system. Probably not as easy of a fix as checking the lockout, but if that doesnt work you may need to bleed the system.

Here's one for ya.

On a dyno session, my PCM was fried so they put in a PCM from an A4. Now I have the same problem as above. My guess is the computer is confused. I have SES P1810 and SES P0753. No blown fuses and the solenoid I'll check tonight ( although it was working fine prior to the swap ). I even disconnected the battery thinking the PCM was locking out the reverse, but it still happened with no battery. I'm getting my M6 PCM back this week, but I thought I'd share. FWIW.
