Help with shifting

1 Attachment(s)
What should I set my shift light to for best results? Stock t56, ls6 clutch, and 342 rear. Also, are the shift points the same for all gears.
Thanks

I say about 6600 is a starting point but u need to go to the track and make some passes and see what shift point nets the highest MPH in the 1/4 mile. That for me is the best way to find the optimal shift point.

BTW, what are the specs of your cam and is it still injected or is it carbed?

Cam is 224/226 .569/.571 114. Heads are patriot stage II.

I believe my rev limiter is set to 6700. If I peg it out, will the engine shut down completely like it did on the dyno, or will it just cut out and then recover? Also, will 6600 be good in all gears?

Thanks.

since the car is still making good power past 6500....i would say set the light at about 6400-6500

that gives you a small buffer before you start hitting the limiter.

no reason i can think of to not shift at the same point in all gears.

Thanks. I will set it to 6500 to start with.

I think that I pegged the rev limiter the other day and it cut out until the rpms dropped. I guess the dyno program shuts the car off when the rev limiter pegs. I'll ask the tuner.
Thanks again.

I still have one question for anybody.

When you reach the rev limiter setting in your PCM, will the engine completely die and you coast to a stop or will it just bog down momentarily and then recover when the rpms drop?

Thanks
