Default m6 tranny on 00 ss camaro

strange problem here.. my tranny shifts smooth in every gear except fourth and 6th,... its a pain to get the gear to stay in .. it goes in just fine .. it just seems to spit out every single time and its only in 4th gear and 6th gear.. no grinding at all once engaged.. ive noticed the tranny bounces up and down at times when i hit a hard bump or drop it into a lower gear at high speeds.. it seems as if it hits the bottom of the car.. the car wont stay in foruth it spits out, i have to throw it in hard and somewhat hold it in place and it will catch just fine .. same deal with 6th gear.. have to hold it in place untill it catches.. any input will be greatly appreciated.. thanks Guys and God bless..

Check (and remove) any shifter stops if you have them.. Check your trans mount.

If neither of these helps, you may have an odd-chance of 2 sets of fork pads being broken and you'll have to have the trans rebuilt.

X2 on the Shifter Stops.

As far as the bouncing, check the Tranny Mount..it may be broken.

After driving a Stock F-body that was a T56 I will always upgrade to a Torque Arm Relocaton Crossmember..gets rid of alot of that bouncing.

Here's a pic of an example hurst shifter:

You can see the forward and rear shifter stop screws, right under the rubber boot.

Base model stock shifters typically won't have them.
