Default ES poly urethane tranny mount + stock rubber motor mounts = no no????

My buddy told me that i shouldnt run the Energy Suspension poly tranny mount with my stock rubber motor mounts because i can risk cracking the tranny case/bell housing. is this true? if so i would like to take it out asap.

I've read this same thing on here multiple times. Since I put a stock LS1 in the car back in August '08 it's had a ES trans mount and stock motor mounts. Held fine then. I've had 383rwhp since March '09 and so far no problems and it doesn't get driven lightly. So either it's true and I'm lucky, or it's non-sense. Some say that since the motor twists and the trans does not with the ES trans mount, that it puts more strain on it. It makes sense.

Mine is getting solid motor mounts next year anyway.

Torque arms help break tailhousings.

A poly mount with rubber engine mounts and no torque arm will be fine.

Solid transmission mounts are foolish.

No problem since the TA wont be loading up the tailshaft housing.

I just removed a Spohn tunnel mount T/A, wasn't very happy with it.

I put a T/A relocation crossmember on last night, very happy with it.

Interesting. Similarly to the OP, I've also heard it's recommended to have equal rigidity on both engine/trans mounts OR ensure the engine has stiffer mounts than the transmission mounts (NOT vice versa).

This is what i read awhile back when i was researching install documents for poly motor mounts due to headers/ pipe hitting floor boards. Currently have poly eng mounts with stock rubber trans mount... i have my trans down right now due to clutch change(come on stage 4 monster... should be here tomorrow) but trans mount looks fine so im ganna keep her. why are you wanting to replace.. yours shot/ falling apart.

yup ive heard the same thing many times on this forum about how to go either solid/poly or i think poly/poly is ok too, but never go stock(rubber)/poly (stock motor/poly trans)

To the OP of the thread: No reason to take it out. This guy is turbo'd with a 9". You know that this guy's car isn't launched like a grandpa is driving it. And like I said, I've been running stock mm/poly tm with 383/365 rwhp/tq for over a year with no issues and I don't drive my car with a light foot to say the least. I'd say you're fine to leave it in there.

i replaced my tranny mount (rubber) with an energy one (poly) when my stocker went.. i have stock motor mounts.. and havent had any issues.. i actually liked the way the poly one felt vs. the stock. my plan is to get new motor mounts aswell though.. cause i feel they are a little loose.
