Default 6 speed options behind LSx

I'm slowly putting a list together to see what it would take to get a LSx conversion in my 96 fbody. Here are the options I've searched researched so far as it relates to transmissions. I'd like to stay 6sp.

1) LS1 t56 (easiest)
2) GTO t56 (need to research what needs to change)
3) newer t6060 (need to research what needs to change)
4) LT1 t56 converted to LS1 (bellhousing, intermediate shaft, intermediate case)

What gets a little crazy is figuring out how to do this cost effectively. I lean back to option 4 as I already have the trans. I thought about selling it and getting one of the other options, but with the inconsistent 3rd gear issue I have now, I would have to invest money in it to sell it for a reasonable price. So if I have to open it up to get it fixed, might as well convert it? (need to source the parts for the LSx conversion)

Thoughts?
