Thumbs down Beware if you buy a Textralia Twin Disk

Not only did I get screwed on a used Textralia twin disk from RedHatRdRacer (click on link in sig) but I had a problem with a brand new one too.

If you buy one, make sure the bolts that are on the back of the flywheel don't hit anything. You would think for $1300 you would get a clutch that just bolts on, but I had to tear car apart again because I didn't bother checking clearances and had to replace bolts on back side of flywheel with bolts that had thinner heads

Also don't use arp fly wheel bolts on the dual disks. Use only stock gm bolts, they will take out the rivits on the inner disk and you might nit be able to get the bolts off because there is no bolt head. FYI for anyone else.

My ARP's clear my Exedy twin and there is nothing hanging off the back of the flywheel for clearance issues. I'm really glad I picked the Exedy but I really only did because I got dirt cheap. I bought two of them and made one good one for less than 200 total.

Glad you finally got everything worked out on the clutch. A journey I know all to well lol

That's strange, My friend had the same clutch with no issues...I bought the clutch off of him and I was going to install it next week. So the bolts that hole the stubs on are sticking out to much and you had to grind down the heads?

Textralia says they have never seem that happen, but I have a stock block with stock crank so I have no idea. Yes, it is the bolts that holds posts to the flywheel but I actually bought new bolts that had thinner heads.

They were the "correct" bolts. The clutch is great now but to be honest, it was way too much trouble. The next time I have a clutch issue I'm probably getting a 4L80.

I didn't mean the $ was bad, the hassle was bad. You pay $1300 for a clutch specific for your car and it doesn't work and you need to modify it because of poor design

That is real odd because the one I bought new several years ago didn't have those giant bolt heads on the back side and was delivered assembled.
