Why can't I find ARP spec's for flywheel/PP bolts
 

I did a search all different ways.

I have seen several numbers thrown around. The most common for the ARP flywheel bolts is 74 ft/lbs with loctite even though ARP says their moly lube, which makes no sense to me.

The pressure plate bolts I have no idea. My bolts came with no specs just sealed in plastic. I was going to slap the flywheel/PP on tonight but I guess I am going to have to wait.

I also read that someone said not to use the ARP bolts for the pressure plate. Is this true?

Sucks...shit should be printed on the bag or whatever.

It's by thread size and pitch and usually by material. These are found in a factory svc. manual.

I was wrong about the flywheel bolts. I opened the package tonight and folded up behind the bolts that I couldn't see was a piece of paper that said 60 ft lbs with the moly lube. I am going to use loctite.

I opened the pressure plate bolts and no paper.

I looked through my monster clutch box tonight and found no paperwork in there either.

I'd use the moly, and not the loctite. A properly torqued fastener seldom needs loctite on it to stay tight. And if you ever have to take it back off, you'll be seriously cussing yourself. Trust ARP to know what they are talking about.

Pretty sure the FW is 74 ft-lbs. I used loctite instead of the moly. As for the PP it depends on the clutch. I think stock is 50 ft-lbs but my McLeod instructed to use a lot less - 25 ft-lbs IIRC.

My sheet said 60 for the flywheel bolts.


I am waiting to hear back from the sponsor I bought the clutch from. I will report back when I hear something.

I just verified - FW is 74 ft-lbs on the final pass according to OEM.

I just spoke with a ARP tech. He said they are trying to get new instructions out with their bolts.

What they suggest now is loctite on the threads and their lube under the head of the bolt. When you use the loctite you should raise your torque numbers up 5-10 ft lbs.

pressure plate bolts, 45 with loctite

I got the flywheel on tonight and went put the pressure plate one. First thing I notice is there are no alignment dowel pins on the flywheel from monster. After looking at it it seem it would align itself on the bolts no big deal.

Here's the problem. The ARP bolts I got are not the right ones. I can screw them into the flywheel maybe 1 1/2 turns and that's it. I put a ratchet on it but didn't go any further. I found the stock bolts and they fit just fine.

The ARP part number I have is 134-2201 it says LS1 hex pressure plate bolt kit.

I checked with a die from a thread chaser kit and the OEM bolts are different from the ARP's.

I have seen some thread where people swear the pressure plate bolts are TTY and others say they are not.

I am at a stopping point now which sucks because I wanted to get the trans bolted on.

On a good note I got the LS6 intake on with the 28.8lb injectors.

I talked to Steve at SNL this morning. He said the flywheel bolts are TTY but the pressure plate bolts are not.

He said they have done testing with the stock bolts and are good to over 1000hp. So I could put half of them in and still be ok.

I will be using the ARP flywheel bolts and stock P/P bolts with red loctite.

Installing these on the LS370 build and decided to share. Instructions are behind the ARP fastener lube.

ARP Flywheel Bolts here, red LocTite and ran them in with the Airgun, never had any issues haha.
