Default Best TraNS Fluid for T-56

My t-56 has about 153k miles on it and about 10k on the fluid, it has royal purple in it now, im gunna change the fluid this winter, what do you guys recommend? One of my buddies swears by gm synchro-mesh but the royal purple i got was suppose to be same stuff half the price. Also doing rear-end fluid, I know theres a seperate section for gear/axel but I figured Id kill two birds with one stone. Im running 75-90 GL-5 with a posi additive right now. Any opinions on what might be a better choice? Thanks guys.

amsoil, no questions asked. been running in my T56 race car for 3 years now, with ZERO trans problems. I just change it before each season.

what year is the T56? has it ever been rebuilt?

I think the synchromesh is bad for the paper blocker rings that came stock up until 01' or so, but I like the feel of synchromesh a LOT better than the Dex III I had first

Default Not to sidetrack but VIN for T56??

Not to side track your conversation about fluid choice, but I need to know the VIN digit for the T56.

Anybody, Anybody?

I had Mobil 1 synthetic, liked it but discovered that I most likely have the paper blocker rings. I switched to Citgo Dex III, doesn't shift quite as nice as the Mobil 1 but the slippery synthetic fluid is a lot easier on the paper blocker rings (they basically function off of friction) than the synthetic.

EDIT: BTW, when I say it doesn't shift quite as nice, I don't mean that it shifts bad at all. Still feels good, almost more smooth instead of as easy.

Cheap Penzoil ATF 3, works great! I tried many synthetics and it made my trans feel really notchy like I was crunchin up rocks.

It is a 99 and as far as i know has never had any work done, just turned over 153k this week. I have some shifting issues as well, hard to get into 2nd and 3rd at high rpm, I put a tick perf master cylinder in it and this seemed to help but did not fix the issue, also pops out of reverse alot. And grinds into 4th at high rpm, I was told the royal purple would solve most of my shifting issues, it did not, and then the master cylinder was suppose to be the key, it was not. Im no trans expert but I would venture to guess that my synchros are bad possibly?

Do a search, beat to death.

I use Pennzoil Synchromesh, I am looking to try out GM Synchromesh Friction Modified (FM) and btw the Pennzoil I use is the exact same as regular GM Synchromesh.

If your getting grinding it's possible that you have bad synchros, but the fact that you have problems getting into gear at high RPM makes me think that you might have air in the system after you put the master in.

exactly what i use. smooth and safe for your blocker rings. i tried the MB1 ATF and it felt fast like shifting in water, a little notchy but i didnt mind. i got paranoid because of the stock blocker rings and went back to STD Dex 3 and its def smoother but slower like shifting in thick oil.
