Loose shift stick?

Default Loose shift stick?

so the car has 70,000 miles on it now and when in gear there is alot of play like something has worn out but dont know what it may be any ideas? has anyone experianced this before? when i an in gear it use to be really stiff and felt soild, now it has alot of play side to side and back and forth while in gear a good half inch play. stock shifter with hurst leather handle. going to be putting a short shifter in once i find out what the problem maybe.... thanks

i have actually had the bolts come lose on my 2000.....just a thought,if you had not checked them.

yeah i just pulled the center coNsole and it was the freakin bolts so i put some blue lock tight on them and its much better now.... anyone have suggestions for a good short throw shifter and stick? trying to keep it low and quick

The lock-tite works but was a PITA for me when I had to remove the stick. I went to Nord Lock washers: http://www.nord-lock.com/ which also do the job with no mess.
