Need help with programming for ecu (converssion)

Need help with programming for ecu (converssion) i just did a conversion on my 97 ws6 trans am.
had 4l60e and 323 rear now has t56 6spd 342 rear
went to reprogram through gm and I cant. They have to use my vin to get the programming. And it would be the same as i have now. So i either have to buy an ecu with the same specs as whats in the car now or get a vin from a 1997 with the same specs and use that to get the tune. Can anyone help me out.

Why would you need to program the ecu ? Your the one shifting gears . Maybe Iam wrong ? I could see needing the change for the gears but not because of tranny . I used pcmforless to program my ecu they are great !
