I'm sure I'll get a bunch of opinions on this and I hope so. Got a '98 T/A six-speed, cam close to 234/238 @.050" .580/.592 Long tube s/s headers Z-06 clutch. I bought the car like this so the numbers may or may not be spot on. During research though I did discover that you could order the car with a hurst shifter from the factory. Now the "TEE" handle says hurst and it's a decent shifter and it may be factory installed, but I want something with a shorter throw without making the trans too "gaity" feeling-Wife does drive occasionally. What are you guys running (and in what cars-for instance I hear B&M has trouble with the GTO's cause of the linkage issue) and how do you use your car? I'm primarily concerned with straight-line performance so competition downshifting isn't a concern, I'd just prefer no to miss a gear shifting up at 6800. I also just PM'd Farmer to see about getting one of his boot clips as I don't have one at all-Damn you can't imagine all the S#1T you thinks wrong when you can hear through the trans-tunnel-LOL Anyway I'd like to do the shifter/boot/clip deal all at once so anyone who can give some advice and things they've tried let me know.

I have never missed a 2-3 shift with my pro 5.0 or a 4-5 but id like to try the upgrade hurst not the stock hurst

i have a B&M, never had a problem with it, the master cylinder is another story. If your concerned with not missing shifts up to 6800 you may want to consider the TICK adjustable master cylinder, it will help you out more than a shifter.

I like my factory Hurst with the WS6store short stick. Short, crisp shifts all the time. I want to say the RPO code for the factory Hurst is BBS. Check your door to see if that's on there. If I had to replace mine with anything, simply from reviews I would go Pro 5.0 for my first choice then MGW closely behind.

MGW is the only shifter I will ever own again after owning several. It may be the best but might not be for you as the centering springs are pretty strong.. It is all personal preference..

See if you cant find some local guys on here that will let you feel their shifters before buying one..

I like my MGW. It's smooth, quick, and very solid feeling, without being hard to shift or anything.

I have had a hurst billet plus for a while now which I liked, and just installed a lou's short stick yesterday, which is designed for the hurst. I haven't have a ton of driving time on it yet, but so far its pretty awesome!

Agreed. Of course, its the only aftermarket shifter I have any experience with. But in it defense, 2nd to 3rd was a bitch with the stock unit. Haven't missed one since installing my Hurst Billet.

Plus it is, by far, the best looking piece on the market.

Thanks for all the input, my next step as someone suggested earlier was to try and feel a couple others. I've missed the last two damn cruise-nite's/car shows Hopefully this next go around will be different. Next thing I'm gonna do is check the vendors here but if anyone knows a member selling one (even a used one in good shape) I'd be interested in that as well.
