Clutch pedal gets soft after being driven/warmed up. Any ideas?
 

The car has uncoated LT's and an ORY which of course the clutch hydraulic line is routed away from, but we all know it gets damn hot. I have been using Valvoline DOT 3/4, but switched it out today for Prestone DOT4 (haven't driven it yet). I'm guessing the pedal getting soft is a heat issue, if this doesn't help at all is there something I can wrap the hydraulic line in to help protect it from absorbing heat?

yes, heat sleeves from DEI, they usually have it at Advance Auto in the performance section

Heat wrap will help but so too will making sure that your lines are routed behind the existing heat-shields. If you are using long-tube headers this will actually make the potantial for boiling the fluid greater. So, wrap the lines and use the highest BP fluid you can find, I suggest Motul RBF600.

Aside from doing a fluid swap and rebleeding the system your componets maybe on the way out. I assume you have a good set up but I would advise you to consider a better Master Cyl such as a Tick unit. Much better set up and with my stock trans mated to a Tex. OZ-700 works magic.

How many miles on the Master and Slave?? Also what clutch set up.

Set up only has about 7K miles on it, spec 2 w/ spec billet fly wheel. Prestone DOT 4 helped firm up the pedal a good amount. Bought the heat sleeves mentioned above and will check the line routing tomorrow morning when its not so hot out. Haha.

Having a similar problem with my Tick M/C. I'm also using the Valvoline 3/4. Going to pick up some Motul and see if I get an improvement.

Well I used the heat wrap today, was easy to get to and cover everything from under the car. I did find a major issue... The protective rubber boot covering some of the hydraulic line was laying against a primary and had burned through the boot and the stainless line was laying right on the header. Had to of been boiling the crap out of the fluid. I checked for any other damage and don't have any...

I rerouted the line and did a fluid swap again. Since I first posted on this issue I have effectively improved pedal firmness by probably 75-80% over what it was! I'm stoked and the car is a lot more fun to drive now.
