Sorry for the poor pictures of the flywheel, but I couldn't find my camera phone and the flywheel was still on the car. I don't know if you can tell, but there is a nice blue ring on the outside of the flywheel (like a hot spot). What happened to this clutch? It's a Competition Clutch Stage 2. Brand new flywheel. Less than 2000 miles on both. I followed the break in procedures and was gentle as hell on it for the first 1000 miles.

when you installed the clutch did the tranny slide all the way in without drawing it in by using the tranny bolts?

When I initially installed the clutch, no. I drew it in a very small bit (about the size of two stacked pennies). I believe it wouldn't go in all the way because the input shaft had a groove in it from the previous pilot bearing. I then dropped the transmission the next week to put in a new flywheel (was using my stock resurfaced flywheel, but I ended up replacing it with a new one to be safe). I drove it for about 1000 miles this way without any problems. I pulled the transmission out a few days ago to send my input shaft in to get re-tipped. It wasn't until then when I pulled the clutch out and noticed this. I used an old input shaft to align the clutch both times.

No one has any opinions on the clutch disk and pressure plate?
