what's wrong with this picture?

My clutch went out, 94Z, LT1/M6. Just took it out and this is what it looked like. I'm no expert but it looks like the clutch springs gave out? here's the pics

You are correct.

ANTICOP RAM AIR Dec 5, 2011 12:31 AM

You never changed the clutch oil???? shame on you

BackInBlack02 Dec 5, 2011 12:41 AM

NO way!! the clutch oil light did not come on!!

ANTICOP RAM AIR Dec 5, 2011 01:08 AM

:jest: Good comeback... My clutch did the same thing.. was told it was from sidestepping it... basically popping it under wot...

BackInBlack02 Dec 5, 2011 01:17 AM

but but.... engine sounds soo good at over 5kRPM's out thru magnaflows...
I only went to the track once and got two passes but I guess its time for a better clutch.

ANTICOP RAM AIR Dec 5, 2011 07:25 AM

Well, it makes sense that if one spring goes, the remaining tension is divided among the remaining springs. that could explain their failure... Did you put that clutch in? It looks like a no name clutch to me... I thought ram clutches were red???

studderin Dec 5, 2011 07:47 AM

thats not a ram HD

BackInBlack02 Dec 5, 2011 10:01 AM

I put that clutch it, it is a RAM set from Summit, that's what came in the RAM box.

wrd1972 Dec 5, 2011 10:31 AM

Simply carnage from a WOT clutch dump. Probobly cheap Chinese junk springs.
That looks like a OE or OE replacement stock clutch to me. Nothing fancy and definitely not a Ram HD.

BackInBlack02 Dec 5, 2011 10:39 AM

Then I got Jipped by Summit and did not get what I paid for?.....

ANTICOP RAM AIR Dec 5, 2011 10:58 AM

Looks like a valeo clutch to me... thats the same shit they sell at autozone and the like... Ive seen many of those separate and the springs break like that.. Replace it, thats all you can do... Does the PP or disc have any PNs on them? thats a definite way to tell.. also the TOB is an el cheapo as well... You sure you didnt go to Autozone.. lol

BackInBlack02 Dec 5, 2011 11:06 AM

I'll get the PN's, wish it had been from Vatozone, then it be free replacement and I wouldn't have high hopes of it lasting a bit longer.

but definetly got it from Summit about a year and a half ago, paid $360something and I put it in while I had the engine out. Now, do I spend on Mcleod or Spec? or just get a Vatozone special and get free replacements?.....

stephen4036 Dec 5, 2011 12:05 PM

if u like your input shafts.. dont get spec.. get a monster or ram.

SPEC-01 Dec 5, 2011 01:16 PM

BackinBlack, We offer a Stage 1 kit, that is a much stronger option for this application (as well as 6 other single-disc options). Take a look at the link below for more info.

http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Chevy/Camaro/1994/Single

Stephen, We sell thousands of these...what are you referencing relative to the input "shafts"...there is only one by the way? If you have an issue you are welcome to contact me at any time.

firemech21 Dec 5, 2011 03:30 PM

SPEC-01 no offesne intended but my stage 1 is horrible and I have contacted the company and gotten ZERO help/assistance. Chatters horribly.

pkozera Dec 5, 2011 09:01 PM

If you look at a spec pp you will see valeo on it they manufacture it to others specs and others put a sticker on it or paint it on. And it does look like a stocker disc to me as well. What a shame. Was just using spec as a ref. I also know from a 2+ spec i had in my 94.
