Yea these transmissions work awesome for mile racers because the .80/.63 overdrive ratios.

If your T56 is howling you've more than likely overpowered the gearset.

With this built T56 Magnum you won't have to worry about this again.

"overpowered"? as in too much hp for that stock gear? Also, anything I can do to help that gear live one more race before i can buy your setup? thicker gear oil or something?

Yes, exactly. When overpowered the stock gears start to overheat and mating surfaces of the gears basically start to melt down. This overheating causes excessive wear and will eventually wear the gear teeth till they fail like in the picture below.

If you trans has just started howling you might get by with one more race. But honestly it is very hard to say.

ah yeah, my stock input shaft had pretty bad wear on it when i had it it converted to viper specs. The shop replaces the input and counter shaft because of it.

Also, not to undercut you, but I work in the industry and could prob get one of the 6060 trans at cost, and if so, what would you charge to convert one?

Which unit would you be sending? A T56 Magnum or a TR6060 from another vehicle?

I haven't really looked into it much, but what are the differences between this transmission and a (built) TR6060?

The out of the box T56 Magnum is basically a stock TR6060 internally. So it is lacking quite a bit compaired to a "built" TR6060. Our Level 6 Bolt-in Magnum is a fully built unit. Featuring upgrades like Carbon blocking rings on 1st-4th (No carbon 5th-6th rings are available yet but 5th and 6th rarely have shifting issues in the TR6060), bronze fork pads and a full micro polish on all the internals of the trans.

The biggest difference between the TR6060 and T56 Magnum is the Magnum feature a slip yoke style tail housing unlike most TR6060 transmissions used in factory applications. Most TR6060s in the 5th gen camaros, 08+ GT500, G8 and CTSV use a flange driven driveshaft with no slip yoke. This will not work in a car with a live rear axle. Also the gear ratios in these transmissions leave a lot to be desired in any other application. The Corvette TR6060 is a completely different animal, mounting in the rear to the torque tube and bolting the differential directly to it.

The main problem with the out of the box Magnum in the 4th gen f-bodies is by the time you do all the modifications to the car and purchase a new driveshaft you exceed the cost of our stock Magnum bolt-in units and a fully built unit isn't that much more. The out of the box Magnum will not work in a GTO at all because the shifter is so far forward. So one of our converted units would be required.

Hope that answers your questions. If you have any more please feel free to ask.

either... if you can put the 6060 internals in my T56, or I could get a new T56 magnum at cost
