Default Ist gear locked

Need some help, My tranny has a fresh rebuild, the only time that is on it is at the track, with about 4 passes. I have been backing it out of the garage weekly to work on the car, Yesterday was no different, reversed out of the garage, put it in 1st and shut her off. Went to back it up a little more and it is jammed in 1st gear and will not budge. I tried revving the motor, revving and trying to pull it out of 1st the same time and no luck, What the hell happened?

Does the car still move forward when the clutch is let out? You can't move it out of first with the car off? Not parked on a hill?

Internally you would almost have to have something in the shift linkage or synchro keys fail to lock up in 1st.

I vote on clutch drag/ incomplete release. Mike hit on it with: does it come out of gear with the engine off?

Has to be something internally or clutch dragging like Mike said. Who built the trans? Any warranty on it? Whats the shape and age of the clutch related parts?

What happens if you put it in first gear and rev the engine? Does thw car creep forward? Does this issue change if you pump the clutch pedal? If it worked, and now it doesn't, then it could easily be relative to a hydraulic issue. Do you notice any leaks?

everything is brand new, app 5 miles on completely new setup, I had been backing the car in and out of the garage with no problems. Clutch works as should, no creep, still goes fwd in 1st gear, but does not come out with the engine on or off, revving does nothing. I believe it is something internal of the trans, have no choice but to pull it...

If there is no difference with the car on or off then pulling the trans would be the next step. Check everything over and keep us posted!

4 passes on a rebuilt trans in 5 miles? Shouldn't there be some break-in time there?

Sounds like a synchro key broke or popped out.

No time, had been in the build process for nearly 3 years, just ran out of time for the shoot out..I ran low boost and low RPM and shifted granny style.. Before I really do break something, just going to pull it ..

My tranny got stuck in 4th gear like that and it was because 1 of the keys broke and got wedged between the hub/slider
